Differences between individual and group English language classes at Cafe English
There are different ways of learning a language, with different advantages and disadvantages. A Our Cafe English language school is unique in that it offers unique conversation-oriented English lessons, in different forms of learning where the emphasis is on active language use. In the following, we will show the differences between individual English lessons and group English lessons in this innovative language school, where the 90-minute group lessons are always limited to 4-5 students.
Individual lessons:Personalised learning
During individual lessons, students have the opportunity to progress at their own pace and according to their needs, fully personalised. As only the teacher and the student are present in these English lessons, the curriculum, the tasks and the communication modules (presentations, film summaries, narratives, role-plays, etc.) are fully adaptable to the needs of the individual student.
During one-to-one lessons, the teacher can focus all his/her attention on the student, which helps to get immediate feedback and correct any mistakes during the lesson. In addition, the lessons are flexible, allowing students to fit English lessons into their own schedule between 8am and 8pm.
Within the framework of guided sessions the teacher will also give homework in individual lessons, and will take stock of the homework given in previous lessons, checking the student's progress to ensure continuous improvement and consolidation of material.

Group lessons: interactive and social learning
At Cafe English, the 90-minute group classes never exceed 5 students, so learning remains intense and focused. The advantage of group English classes is that students can practise English in real life situations through different communication modules (presentations, film summaries, narration, role-playing, board games, charade games, debates, etc.).
During these lessons, students have the opportunity to learn from others, help each other progress and motivate each other. The group dynamics contribute to the enjoyment of the learning process and to the „sense of reality” of language learning, as students have the opportunity to encounter different accents and expressions, which enriches their linguistic repertoire.
As in the guided sessions, students in group English lessons are given homework to help them practise and consolidate what they have learned at home.
Which is the better choice?
The choice depends mainly on the individual needs, time availability and goals of the student.Individual English lessons may be ideal for those with specific language goals or who need one-to-one attention and support from the teacher, while group lessons are ideal for those who like variety and who want to approach learning in a social and interactive way, applying what they learn to real-life situations.
The ideal choice at Cafe English: combined method
At Cafe English we aim to enhance the learning experience and optimise the language skills of our students. We want the student to make the most progress in the shortest possible time. Although individual and group lessons have their advantages, we believe that the best results are achieved by using two or more methods (Cafe English matrix teaching method) can be achieved by combining. Individual lessons provide in-depth and personalised learning opportunities, while group lessons are interactive and give you the opportunity to use different communication strategies and practise your language skills.
